As each professional came to my bedside explaining who they were and what their role was, I began to get anxious. The nurse anesthetist came in and I asked if I could be given some Benadryl for my stuffy nose through my IV. She explained that wouldn't be a problem and also said she would be happy to suction out my nose/sinuses as I slept. I more than obliged to this since I could hardly breathe. Then I was given a nice dose of Versed and off to Lala Land I went leaving behind my mom and hoping Mike would arrive before I awoke.
I don't remember much after the Versed that day. Somehow I woke up, got dressed, got into the van and Mike drove me home. I vaguely remember crawling into bed and asking Isabelle to please not bump my sore body. Then when I was somewhat conscious I began to blow my nose and cough up blood. What the heck! I guess when they suctioned my nose they accidentally nicked something and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I am now in day five of recovery and I am still coughing up blood and blowing my bloody nose. So my lesson for you is: don't say yes to having your sinuses suctioned out. It's not worth it! Yuck!
My body looks like I have been badly beaten to the point of no recognition. I'm not sure if its a good thing or not, but I did not have enough body fat on my abdomen to liposuction out to be used for the fat grafting. So, they had to use my sides/waist, outer and inner thighs. No bueno!!! Whoever has had liposuction done for cosmetic reasons (in my opinion) is just flat out crazy!! This is by far the most pain I have been through and this is my 3rd major surgery on my breasts in less than 9 months time. I am told I need to wear a compression belt on my abdomen (much like after my c-section), to help the tissue swelling go down. I am also supposed to wear compression on my thighs, but the bandages just kept falling down when I stood up. Thank goodness for Lululemon Wunder Tights!! They serve as both my abdominal and thigh compression pants and they are cute and stylish!
I am happy with how my tata's turned out so far! I had 535 cc high-profile implants put in with 80 cc of fat grafting around each breast. My chest looks and feels so natural its crazy! If it weren't for the scars and the fact I have no nipples, if you bumped into me in the dark you would not have any idea what all these girls have been through.
I plan to take my recovery very seriously. I will not be lifting anything over a gallon of milk until I am told I can. When all of my breast tissue was removed, so was my natural shelf which held my breasts nicely in place. I now have an artificial shelf which is made of mesh and is sewn literally in place. If I lift too early this shelf can shift causing my tata's to drop. I really don't want to go under the knife again, so I will be a good patient (for once) and do as I'm told. :)
Thank you to everyone for your support over the past 9 months!! Mike and I appreciate all of the meals, help, texts, calls, visits and so much more! Without such a great support system it would have been so much harder to go through all of this. Thank you!!
