The tests that were run were: BRCA1, BCRA2, CDH1, PTEN, and TP53
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, please make sure you are doing your self exams, as well as going in for your mammograms and or MRI's to test for breast cancer. I did have my first mammogram at age 29 and nothing showed up because at that age your breasts are so dense its like finding a needle in a haystack unless you have a major mass. I also had 2 mammograms right before my reduction surgery at age 38 and neither of my two discovered tumors were found on imaging. So, technology is not always the best to rely on. In my case I was relying on intuition. I knew going into my reduction surgery that it would be discovered that I had cancer. It was still a shock, but somehow I just knew it. We as women (and men) need to make sure that we are really listening to what our bodies are telling us.
